WHO IS DANIEL?
DANIEL BASILIO-FERNÁNDEZ is a Dominican-Mexican bassist, composer, arranger, and music director living in New York, NY.
A working musician in New York, Daniel’s professional experience includes recording and collaboration with Disney Theatrical Group and performances at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Apollo Theatre at the Victoria, and Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center.
As a sought-after performer on award-winning productions, he has worked with renowned music directors such as Ray Chew, Alex Lacamoire, and Cynthia Meng and currently subs on Broadway and off-Broadway productions such as Hell’s Kitchen and The Lion King.
He has performed alongside prominent musicians such as Jaleel Shaw, Donny McCaslin, Ingrid Jensen, and Tony Kadleck.
Daniel is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he focuses on jazz double bass and composition, studying under renowned instructors including John Benitez, James Genus, and Darcy James Argue.
A working composer and arranger, Daniel currently serves as artistic director of the “Fellowship of Mortal Men,” a large ensemble project dedicated to his original compositions and orchestral arrangements. He also serves as the Associate Artistic Director of the New York City Community Chorus, a grassroots organization funded by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs dedicated to forging community and facilitating cultural exchange through music. The NYCCC operates the chorus in downtown Manhattan and another division serving the inmates of Rikers’ Island.
He works extensively in both concert and commercial music, with contributions to several award-winning independent films and live productions, such as the “Night of Inspiration” at Carnegie Hall in December 2024, music directed by GRAMMY®-award-winning music director Ray Chew (Dancing With The Stars, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade).
In addition to his work as a performer, he is a copyist at “Emily Grishman Music Preparation”. Outside of music, Daniel loves the outdoors, reading, discovering new food joints, and spending time with loved ones.
